AWARD-WINNING WELLNESS AT FUSION MAIA DA NANG 2018
Maia takes Spa of the Year trophy at AsiaSpa Awards 2018
[Da Nang – Nov 2018]: After facing tough competition from the likes of Banyan Tree Phuket, The Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui, and Four Seasons Resort Maldives, the all-inclusive Maia Spa at Fusion Maia Da Nang was awarded the Spa of the Year award for the Southeast Asia & Pacific region.
AsiaSpa, a prestigious in-print and online magazine, has been running its annual awards program since 2005. Despite several nominations, 2018 marks the first year Fusion has taken home a prize.
“It’s an incredible honour,” said Ramon Imper, the resort’s general manager, at the awards ceremony in Hong Kong, “especially when one considers the other amazing spas that were nominated. But the real winners tonight, of course, are our incredible spa staff.”

“I deeply appreciate that the AsiaSpa judges recognised how much time and care we put into providing a unique and highly personal spa experience for each guest,” said Emilie Chanon, Maia’s spa & wellness director. “That is our main aim: to create heart-to-heart connections while also offering something new and innovative, even for regular spa-goers.”
Utilising combinations of energy work and Reiki, meridian therapies, and more familiar Eastern and Western massage and aromatherapy practices, as well as beauty treatments and mom-to-be options, the Maia Spa menu goes beyond the basics while still remaining down to earth and accessible to all. Complemented by Maia’s Natural Living Program of yoga, tai chi, and meditation, daily spa visits become a seamless part of the Fusion vacation lifestyle.
“That’s the beauty of being an all-inclusive spa,” said Emilie. “Our guests have the opportunity to dip their toes into areas of wellness that they may not otherwise have experienced.”
Supported by spa team comprised entirely of Vietnamese staff, Emilie feels the AsiaSpa award is also an acknowledgement of how far the property has come since opening in 2011, and how far Vietnam has come in the spa and wellness sector. “I have seen first-hand how empowering Maia Spa has been for our therapists,” she said, “many of whom joined us with very little experience in a five-star setting. Their commitment and their passion have thrown open the doors to a lifetime of opportunities.”
“At the end of the day,” adds Ramon, “a spa, much like a hotel or a resort, is nothing without its people. I think that’s what Fusion is all about. Yes, we have great-looking properties, great facilities, and unique services like ‘anywhere anytime’ breakfasts, but it is, for me, the genuine love and warmth of Fusion’s staff that our guests appreciate the most.”
